Baltimore RENEW

Donation to help establish Baltimore RENEW

On December 1, 2015 GGCA, along with five other community associations, stood in front of a row house in East Baltimore/Midway and presented the Community Law Center (CLC) with a check in the amount of $22,553. The Midway row house was one of 57 properties that were part of a successful lawsuit brought by the associations and the CLC against Scott Wizig, an out-of-state owner of long-vacant, uninhabitable and nuisance properties. A map showing the location of Scott Wizig’s properties is here.

By donating a portion of the settlement funds to the Community Law Center the communities are supporting the CLC in establishing Baltimore RENEW (Residents Engaged in Neighborhood Empowerment and Well-being), a city-wide coalition that will continue to address the problems caused by vacant properties.
