Community Garden Seeding Workshop

On Saturday afternoon March 19th Ms. Cheryl Carmona and Ms. Aliza Sollins, who both live in the neighborhood, held a community garden seeding workshop for interested residents. We selected and planted seeds for the vegetables, herbs and flowers we want in our community garden located in the 2100 block of Boone St.

We planted the seeds in trays which will be keep indoors under light until the seeds sprout. Later in the spring we will transplant them into the beds which we also started to prepare.

Additionally, we cleaned up the lot and adjacent alleys. Ms. Sollins hauled to the Sisson St. dump over 10 bags of debris that we had collected.

As we were finishing up, Council President Bernard C. “Jack” Young stopped by to see our progress and talk about the importance of quality food being available in our neighborhood.
